When I saw this posted as a novella and read the blurb I seemed to recall it as a short story somewhere, and I was correct. It was in an anthology a while back and I loved it then and now it's kicking off a series which just gets better as it goes on.Despite the fact that the series takes place in the obsessively gossipy and perfectly portrayed small town of O'Leary in Western New York and that each book so far features couples who have all the right stuff but whom you'd never imagine would ever be get together, let alone be compatible, this series really, really works.The keys are the MCs and the townsfolk that surround and try to manipulate them in a variety of ways because each of these couples are not what you would expect.In this short "introductory" novella, the somewhat cynical and commitment wary ginger on the cover, Caelan (Cal) gets swept off his feet by the much bigger, broad, ex-SEAL Ash, who comes into his bakery for one reason that Cal totally misinterprets and boom!If you don't like insta-lust or insta-love themes, suck it up and try this one out. All you really have to do is read the blurb and then settle in for a couple of hours of hoots, hollers, and "holy molies" of all kinds in a story which sets you up for a series that will likely suck you in from the start of each book. ## Short and sweet. I enjoyed reading this. It felt a little weird that the very buff 6'5" navy seal was the submissive in this relationship, but oh well. The reason I only rated this 3 stars is because after their 1st date it says...Six months later. I was bummed. The beginning of the relationship is the fun part. We don't get to experience them getting to know each other. I really don't like the time jumping that soon.
